Position : Technical Advisor, Partnership

As part of its commitment to realizing CARE's 2030 Vision, the Food and Water Systems team in CARE USA, aims to increase its focus and emphasis on partnership development – and particularly to expanding its work with partners in developing countries. The team is thus seeking a Partnerships Technical Advisor to support collaborations and amplify impact through and with partnerships, including social movements. The Technical Advisor will advance network and alliance development in the Food and Water Systems arena. This global role will play a programmatic and technical role to support innovative partnerships, including with institutions and networks in developing countries and will provide backstopping and management support on existing global and regional partnership initiatives.

The incumbent will expand relationships with southern-based research institutions and social movements. They will thus be experienced in cultivating and managing partnerships and maximizing impact through networks and alliances. They will have advanced knowledge and awareness of gender justice in partnerships for development and have experience of working with civil society organizations in developing countries. Project-cycle management and partner liaison skills will be required, and the role will engage in drafting, editing and authoring knowledge briefs and training resources. The role will be expected to support resource development with professional foundations and individual donors, integrating the FWS team’s approaches into funding propositions.

The TA for Partnerships will report to the Strategic Partnerships Lead in FWS and will work with other FWS and CARE USA program teams, the Advocacy team, and Resource Development teams. The role will liaise with other CARE Confederation teams as required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as development studies, public policy, governance;
  • Training or qualification (or relevant work experience) in connected areas of work such as consensus or coalition building; partnership brokering or management; partnership capacity strengthening; partner-based project management
  • A minimum of 10 years professional experience working in or with partnerships, including in partnership governance, in the food and water systems arena and a minimum of 5 years experience of partner capacity strengthening or partnership brokering or management is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in producing quality written products is also required
  • Experience working cross-culturally, with people in different languages, time zones, and skill sets
  • Adaptability and ability to be self-led with strategic judgement
  • Advanced knowledge on the themes of partnerships in development and diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Relevant project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience in partnership management and in providing partnership support
  • Thought leadership in current partnership good practice
  • Fluency in English and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced facilitation and training skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equality, diversity, equity, and inclusion
