Job Ad & Profile Description

Position : HIV Prevention Grant Manager

Program and Position Overview

Although there has been a remarkable decline in new HIV infections over the last two decades, there has been a stagnation in the reduction of new cases globally, as well as increases in new HIV infections among certain geographies and populations-- despite the existence and implementation of multiple effective prevention interventions. Scaling up access to safe, effective prevention options that meet the needs of those at high risk of HIV is essential to eliminating new HIV infections and reaching epidemic control. However, various barriers – individual and systemic – persist, limiting the impact of proven HIV prevention interventions, especially in low- and middle- income countries.

CHAI is currently working with Ministries of Health in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and a broad range of partners globally, to accelerate the development, introduction, and scale up of HIV prevention interventions. CHAI is leveraging, documenting, and sharing lessons from supporting the scale up of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) and oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to strengthen HIV prevention program integration, outcomes, and sustainability and to advance planning for long-acting injectable cabotegravir (CAB-LA) and the dual prevention pill (DPP) introduction, among other promising pipeline prevention products.

CHAI’s HIV Access Program is looking for an HIV Prevention Grant Manager. The Manager will support work under the STRIDE investment and will work closely with the CHAI global and country teams and our donor to execute CHAI’s HIV prevention strategy and activities in Zambia and Zimbabwe and globally. The Manager will lead grant and project management for STRIDE and develop and support execution of donor engagement strategies. As needed, the Manager will provide technical and strategic guidance to CHAI HIV prevention country teams.

CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual with relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience and skills for this role. The successful candidate will have strong project management skills, exceptional analytical ability, and experience cultivating relationships in a multi-cultural and virtual environment. The Manager reports to the Associate Director, HIV Prevention.
