Position : Finance Officer

Institutional Background

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University. Jhpiego has been working in Malawi since 1999 implementing a wide-range of interventions in maternal health, family planning, HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment. Current projects include facility and community-based HIV testing services, and HIV prevention

Post: Finance Officer (1 post) Lilongwe

The Finance Officer is responsible for providing financial support to Jhpiego Lilongwe Office and related programs to ensure smooth running of the office. This includes handling day to day financial operations of the Lilongwe office, with particular emphasis on handling accounts payable and receivable, expense reports, cash handling, payments and compliance to Jhpiego and donor financial policies. Implements and maintains an on-site financial accounting and bookkeeping system required to assure the integrity and effective performance of Jhpiego’s financial operations for country office in general.

Required profile for job ad : Finance Officer
  • Advanced Diploma / Degree in accounting or finance.
  • Member of professional body such as ACCA/ICAM
  • Studying toward ACCA /ICAM qualification
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in finance or accounting
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft excel and quick books accounting package
  • Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of international and USG donor agencies and private sector foundations
  • Able to effectively communicate with senior management, third party vendors, technical staff, as well as non-finance staff
  • Ability to work in a complex environment charged with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform; Motivated, passionate, and hardworking
