Job Ad & Profile Description

Position : District Coordinator

The District Coordinator will engage with District Health Officers, stakeholders, and partners to ensure efficient planning and implementation of activities aimed at Health System Strengthening through increased access to and utilization of quality health services. Ensure project results are reported upon and communicated.

Duties:

  • Lead teams with members from both within MSH and outside to ensure project objectives are reached even if team members are not the project’s direct reports.
  • Supervise and monitor district activities and processes to ensure continuous provision of health area support to district facilities.
  • Ensure district facilities operate at MOH and PEPFAR standards for service delivery.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement effective and relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for district activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to the MOH and local partners in health care management and policy/legislation as it relates to the ONSE Program.
  • Develop and implement work plans and budgets that integrate health service objectives with broader ONSE program activities.
  • Write technical reports and success stories in English as required and edit and provided comments on reports generated by technical consultants.
  • Develop and make presentations on technical health issues to high ranking members of different Ministries.
  • Represent the ONSE program at various technical meetings with other cooperating agencies, collaborating partners, senior government officials and/or donor agencies
Required profile for job ad : District Coordinator
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Nursing and Midwifery, Health Management or related field.
  • Post-graduate training in public health preferable
  • Minimum of six (6) yrs. experience successfully implementing and managing public health programs and specific experience in designing or overseeing health programs at district/facility levels.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with a range of counterparts at the district level and decentralized level in a way that leads to technically sound and productive health service interventions.
  • Demonstrated competence in assessing priorities and in managing a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and in meeting deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, and fluency in English is required.
